In 2009, the French surfer Joan Duru, 20years old, won the Lacanau Pro against the World Tour veteran, Travis Logie (working now for the WSL).

7 years later, Joan wins again the oldest french surf contest, the 4th WQS winning of his life, and earns 1500 WQS points!

Heat after heat, Joan showed incredible surf skills in solid conditions, scoring big numbers. The semi final with his buddy from Hossegor, Marc Lacomare was the high point of Joan’s contest where he showed that his place is well on the World Tour.

Joan is still sitting at the 4th place of the WQS ranking, and can take a serious option for the WL 17 qualification in the next couple weeks with the European leg. Congrats Joan, that’s well deserved! Photo Credit WSL
