VILE CREATURE ANNIHILATE YOUR SENSES WITH COVER OF KITTIE’S ‘PAPERDOLL’
The group contributes the track to The Flenser’s ’Send The Pain Below’ Nu-Metal Compilation.
Continuing the rollout of The Flenser’s highly-anticipated ‘Send The Pain Below’ compilation (available on vinyl to subscribers of their Series Three membership club), Vile Creature have unveiled their contribution to the release — a doomy, crushing cover of Kittie’s ‘Paperdoll’. The song originally appeared on Kittie’s year 2000 debut RIAA gold record ‘Spit’ and singer/guitarist, Morgan Lander told the Washington Post: “We want to destroy the idea that a lot of men see women as blowup dolls. We want to break that, because we’re better than that.” Vile Creature comments, “Kittie is a band that trailblazed, both by bucking metal gender norms and being from southern Ontario. It was a no-brainer for us to cover this, the only non-heavy song from their debut record, and we can only hope we did them justice. Long live Kittie!” Vile Creature is a two-piece experimental doom metal outfit hailing from sunny Hamilton, Ontario. They’d prefer you call them a 9 piece blackened doom metal outfit but their 6 cats and 1 dog seem to not count, which is pretty rude to be honest. Their last record, ‘Glory, Glory! Apathy Took Helm!’ was released in June 2020.
