Vans’ beloved Hi-Standard Snowboard Series is back with a bang

Vans’ beloved Hi-Standard Snowboard Series is back with a bang

The globetrotting event returns to Europe for the first time since 2020.

A globe-trotting event series named after Vans Snowboarding’s longest-running boot franchise, the Hi-Standard Snowboard Series made its name with a community-focused competition format, unique parks and providing access to aspiring youth. Now, after a pandemic-induced hiatus, the Hi-Standard Snowboard Series is heading back to LAAX, Switzerland for the European leg of the tour. From April 1-2, the Hi-Standard Snowboard Series will take over LAAX with a custom course designed by Vans Snowboarding athletes Hrund Hanna Thor and Gian Sutter. The course design is a collaborative effort between the two European athletes (who are renowned for their street snowboarding) and the Snowpark LAAX crew; some of the best park builders in the world. Artwork for the event has been created by Mike Gigliotti, best known for his work as the creative director of Baker and Deathwish Skateboards. Community and friendly competition often go hand-in-hand in the world of snowboarding, so the Hi-Standard Snowboard Series is centered around a unique competition model: a fun and open jam-style format that features both open and pro divisions. Competitors will be judged solely on their individual style, as no rotations over 720’ are allowed. The Open Division contest goes down on April 1, with CHF 4,000 in cash-for-trick prizes and a chance for four “MVPs” to advance to April 2 Pro Division contest, competing against 28 invited pros for CHF 6,000 in cash-for-trick prizes and a CHF 10,000 prize for both men’s and women’s division winners. The Pro Division contest will see some of the most progressive pro snowboarders (including Vans riders such as Arthur Longo, Kas Lemmens, Benny Urban, Fridge, Enni Rukajarvi and Ivika Jurgenson and non-Vans team riders) on a unique park for a show based on style, open to all spectators. All Open Division participants will receive free registration, lift tickets, and lunch vouchers. The Hi-Standard Snowboard Series is free to attend for all snowboarders. Individuals who are interested in competing in the Open Division contest can register on-site in LAAX.
