Vans 50th Anniversary celebrations, London lineup announced
The 3,000sqm creative space, skatepark and music venue will welcome a fusion of some of the biggest names in electronic, grime and rock.
Pioneer of the UK grime scene Dizzee Rascal will head up an incredible night of music along with Fat White Family, Chelmsford’s cheekiest export Rat Boy, plus DJ sets from revered selector Annie Mac and one of the biggest exports in UK house music Julio Bashmore. Tickets are free, and available via ballot exclusively from HouseofVansLondon.com
The ballot closes at 18:00 UK time on Sunday 13th, and winners will be notified the following day. Throughout the celebrations, the House of Vans gallery space will host the ‘Tell a Friend about Vans’ 50th anniversary art show. Showcasing one-of-a-kind heritage items from Europe’s most dedicated collectors, the show will also debut Vans new campaign: The Story of Vans. Not yet released, the campaign puts a spotlight on Vans’ 50 years of enabling creative expression through the brand’s cultural pillars.
Saturday 19th of March sees House of Vans London host ‘Vans Family Day’, promising an entire day of activities for one and all to come together and get involved. Skate School will run alongside skate & BMX demos and signings with legends from the Vans skate team. There’ll be games, cake and a whole programme of workshops to get involved with, including screen printing from Lovenskate and a heat press workshop from Man Up Girl!
In addition, tunnel 3 will be transformed into the House of Vans Street Market. Connecting and supporting independent creatives, the Street Market will present the unique opportunity to browse and buy unique objects, art, collectables, music and more, directly from their curators and craftspeople. Stall holders include Tessa Metcalfe, Skate Interiors, Other Side of the Pillow, Lilli Cowley-Wood, Hazel Nicholls and Beach London.
Vans stores will also participate in the revelries, bringing shoe customisation to the next level with a host of illustrators from the Vans Family, with ‘Custom Made For You’. Descending upon the Vans store on Carnaby St. on 16th March, Vans Camden will follow suit on 17th March. The legendary Vans skate team will be hanging out at Slam City Skates after lunch, then on to Vans Carnaby Street for a signing session.
