Two Inch Astronaut to release debut full length ‘Bad Brother’
Two Inch Astronaut is one of those bands that’s somehow existed under the radar for years, though maybe it’s not an entirely bad thing, as it’s given the trio time to hone some very serious chops.
The Colesville, Maryland band, who have been playing music together since 2009, have churned out a steady ooze of EPs and 7″s between brief stints of touring over the past three years. Exploding In Sound Records (Speedy Ortiz, Fat History Month) is excited to announce that they will release Two Inch Astronaut‘s first full-length ‘Bad Brother’ on June 18, 2013. Stereogum today premiered the first track from the record, ‘Blood From a Loyal Hound’ the track has been cleared for re-posting and can be heard at: http://snd.sc/10e2cok
Drawing comparisons to bands such as The Dismemberment Plan, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Jawbox, the kinky, angular post-punk that Two Inch Astronaut churns out manages to be both reminiscent of the best 90s bands and simultaneously wholly original. The band, who are also long-time friends, have plans to take their show on the road this spring and summer (tour dates below). Two Inch Astronaut is Matt Gatwood (drums), Sam Rosenberg (guitar/vocals) and Daniel Pouridas (bass).
“In less than 30 minutes the trio take angular post-punk, gorgeous melodies, and yearning, emotional vocals, and mash them together into a record that takes delight in its special chaos. Nearly everything great about the band gets summed up in three minutes on ‘Blood From a Loyal Hound’ one of the major highlights of the record.” – Stereogum
