Grunge-y alt rock heavyweights Superheaven have announced signing to Blue Grape Music (Gel, Spiritual Cramp, Code Orange), and share their first new music in nearly a decade: their towering single ‘Long Gone’.

‘Long Gone’ is the a-side of a new two-song single, ‘Long Gone / Numb To What Is Real’, and it’s the perfect reintroduction to Superheaven‘s blend of big hooks and even bigger guitars. It’s the same massive and satisfying sound that made band one of the most beloved modern rock bands of the 2010s, and this song proves that the group are truly back and better than ever. Engineered by Clarke and Robbins at The Metal Shop (the studio co-owned by Robbins) then mixed by Rich Costey (The Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine, The Swirlies) 7″ feels like band at their most fully realized. “We didn’t want to be told no” laughs Clarke. “We got to try every pedal, try every amp, and have all the time we wanted to do it.” The result is a pair of tremendous rock songs that mark the start of a new chapter for one of the best bands in modern guitar music. In 2015 Superheaven (guitarists/co-vocalists Jake Clarke and Taylor Madison, bassist Joe Kane and drummer Zack Robbins) released their sophomore album ‘Ours Is Chrome’ and after touring heavily in support of that record they took an extended break from the band. But the group never broke up, and during that hibernation Superheaven and their style of fuzzed-out, riff-laden alternative became even more appreciated and influential. Now the band’s return finds them not only at the peak of their creative powers, but also more popular than ever before. “We did the JAR ten year show and that was really exciting to see that there was still interest in the band” Clarke explains, “then that Fall we played a few more shows and they were even crazier. It really made us realize that people really love this band and these songs we’d made.” The group decided to follow that momentum into a remote cabin in the Poconos to try and make new music, and ‘Long Gone’ was one of the first songs to emerge. “Hearing the demo back for the first time was really inspiring” says Robbins. “To hear us making something new, but to have it still really feel like our sound.” ‘Long Gone / Numb To What Is Real’ will be streaming in full on December 10th and will also be available as 7″ single sold exclusively on superheaven.net and on Superheaven‘s upcoming Fall North American tour with The Story So Far and Koyo. In 2022, industry veterans David Rath and Cees Wessels formed Blue Grape Music. The name will be familiar to rock music fans, as it was the merchandise company also launched by Wessels, who founded the venerable and esteemed record label Roadrunner Records in the ‘80s. Roadrunner earned a reputation as an iconic label that turned hard rock and metal acts into household names for several decades under Wessels’ tutelage. Rath spent 21 years in the A&R department at Roadrunner, working on albums by a variety of RIAA-certified and culturally important acts, including but not limited to Slipknot, Korn, Turnstile, Gojira, Coheed And Cambria, White Reaper, Slash, Trivium, Dream Theater and more.
