Riot Stares amplify their blend of alternative hardcore on new single ‘Relief Technique’
Hailing from Charleston, SC Riot Stares are making an enticing blend of hardcore infused with elements of alternative and nu-metal.
Today the band shares their first new music in four years with the single ‘Relief Technique’ out on DAZE. The track has an intense energy to it, as riffs move from heavy to funk-driven and sharp drums carry the sound. Taking clear influence from acts like Orange 9mm, Helmet, and Refused, the vocal delivery from Brad Marino is aggressive with flair. Speaking on crafting the song and video Marino states:
“We shot the video for this one with our friend Taylor Hickman. It was cool to map out a story line and watch it evolve into something that compliments the track really well. Lyrically the song is about getting lost in all the minor details of life that don’t matter and trying to pull yourself out of that hole.”
‘Relief Technique’ was recorded and mixed by John Howard at War House Recordings in Gainesville, FL and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege in Portland, OR. It follows the band’s previously released EP’s, ‘Riot Stares’ (2016) and ‘Let The Phase Speak’ (2017). Following the passing of guitarist Issy Varoumas, the band intends to release one more record, with more details to come.
Riot Stares is Brad Marino (vocals), Patrick Peck (guitar), Dylan Walker (bass), Tyler Hall (drums), Issy Varoumas (guitar).
