Gothenburg’s punk powerhouse blends philosophizing and shredding sound in fierce comeback. Swedish band is back and bolder than ever with their latest single, ‘Sharp Left Turn (The Trolley Problem)’.

Known for their high-energy performances and thought-provoking lyrics, Rebuke’s return marks a joyous moment for fans of fast, technical and metal-infused punk. This new track is a daring blend of intense musicality and philosophical inquiry, sure to grab attention and solidify Rebuke‘s place in the punk scene. ‘Sharp Left Turn (The Trolley Problem)’ is a lyrical exploration of the struggles of living up to one’s own beliefs, wrapped in Rebuke‘s signature fast-paced, intricate musical style. Vocalist and guitarist Petter Mossberg shares, “We like to say this is a song about running over Nazis with your car, but it’d be more fair to say it’s a rumination on courage, conviction, sacrifice, and ethics. A straight up philosophical masterpiece, if you ask us. Please ask us.” The accompanying music video, shot in the band’s practice space captures Rebuke‘s high-octane energy and no-holds-barred approach. Bassist Phil Nordling notes on the experience; “Yeah we also got out in traffic, in a truly death-defining stunt! We wanted to stay true to the Rebuke formula of fitting as many parts as possible into as short a time as possible, aiming for the end result to grab one’s attention and full-speed running away with it, while maintaining a cohesive, incisive song”.

Rebuke, formed in Gothenburg in 2003, has made a name for themselves with a relentless touring schedule and a series of impactful releases, including their seminal 2010 album ‘Wouldworks’. Their music draws heavily from the melodic hardcore/skatepunk scene, yet they consistently push the genre’s boundaries by integrating elements of metal into their sound. Their lyrics tackle a wide range of issues, from the personal to the political, making their songs as intellectually stimulating as they are catchy. Band’s comeback with ‘Sharp Left Turn (The Trolley Problem)’ is a bold declaration of where the band stands and where they are headed. Stay tuned for more new music from Rebuke in the coming months!
