Returning a little over a year after debut album ‘Nothing Beyond Everything After’, Pariso have somehow warped the space-time continuum and produced ‘Consanguinity’ – a record that shows an evolution far greater than the time frame should allow. Charting an ever fluctuating journey that has seen two member changes since NBEA (including departing long-time drummer Alastair Fyffe, who played on this record), as well as a tour of Cuba, Christmas cover songs and a flexidisc vinyl postcard release, this is a band who constantly surprise and confound expectation. Meaning ‘blood relation’, Consanguinity is a record loosely based upon the theme of family and relations and the ebb and flow that entails.
