Le icone del metal Bay Area Machine Head hanno pubblicato ‘Civil Unrest’, un singolo digitale di due canzoni:

…‘Stop The Bleeding’ (lato A), che vede la partecipazione del frontman dei Killswitch Engage Jesse Leach, e ‘Bulletproof’ (lato B). I due inni di feroce protesta sono stati scritti dopo gli assassinii di George Floyd e Ahmaud Arbery, di certo non morti per attacchi di cuore. Il crudo video è stato diretto e montato da Mike Sloat, che l’ha girato nelle strade di Oakland, CA, mentre la parte di Jesse è stata filmata a Kingston, NY da David Brodsky.

I Machine Head doneranno una parte significativa degli incassi di ‘Stop The Bleeding’ a http://grassrootslaw.org, l’organizzazione che rappresenta George Floyd, Breonna Taylor e Ahmaud Arbery. La B-side ‘Bulletproof’ è una nuova canzone, anch’essa registrata con Carlos e Jared a dicembre 2018. Flynn aggiunge: “Ho finito il testo di ‘Bulletproof’ non solo dopo l’omicidio di Ahmaud Arbery per mano del suprematista bianco, ma anche dopo che tutto è andato fuori controllo nel nostro mondo. L’isolamento e la follia della pandemia, i manifestanti in isolamento che prendono d’assalto gli edifici governativi con gli AR-15, così come le palesi menzogne e le cospirazioni che escono dalle bocche dei nostri leader politici, ora dopo ora, giorno dopo giorno”.

Le canzoni avevano bisogno di qualcosa di visivamente provocatorio come artwork, così la band si è rivolta al collaboratore di lunga data Strephon Taylor che ha illustrato a mano vari elementi legati a questo momento, per fare una dichiarazione potente sull’America e il mondo. Entrambe le tracce sono state prodotte da Robb Flynn (Machine Head, Roadrunner United, Sworn Enemy, Dress The Dead) e registrate da Zack Ohren agli Sharkbite Studios di Oakland, CA, mentre del devastante mix si è occupato Colin Richardson, straordinario collaboratore e produttore di lunga data della band, insieme a Chris Clancy di Audioworks Productions UK. I brani sono stati masterizzati da Ted Jensen allo Sterling Sound.
