‘Gone In A Flash’: a photography preservation effort by Jennifer Precious Finch
Jennifer Precious Finch is known for her involvement in L7 as a singer/songwriter and later a recording artist on A&M with OtherStarPeople.
Finch has launched a Kickstarter campaign to aid in the digitization of her historical photography collection on May 16th, 2017. Details about this arduous undertaking along with an introductory video, a background of the work already completed, what the next steps entail and a breakdown of what the funding covers + what’s in it for all project backers. Finch’s photography chronicles her experiences in the early 1980s as a teenage runaway and heroin addict amidst the Los Angles hardcore and punk rock music scenes.
The collection includes rare images of Pearl Jam, Joan Jett, Fugazi, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction, Breeders, Offspring, Green Day and more, many of which document these bands during their rise to fame. A portion of 1980s era work had been digitized and published over the last 10 years, however it has only been in the last year Finch has uncovered more film and polaroids from both the 1980s and the 1990s. The entire collection is around 9,000 images, many of which Finch still has not seen herself.
