Volcom Stones Goldfish Surf Series The Rock, Morro Bay

The first Goldfish Surf Series of the year kicked off in Morro Bay at the Rock this last weekend. A layer of thick creepy fog held strong all day, but it didn’t stop the 140 competitors or the crazed kids from having a good time. The surf was a fun 2-4ft, which made for exciting surfing in all the divisions. Check some of the photos and video from the day’s event.

The morning fog at Morro Bay is no joke, it continually got worse throughout the day until, there was zero visibility by the time the award ceremony rolled around.

The mixed up wind swell and small south swell, made for some long lefts.

The Squids division was once again ruling the beach!

Jake Marshall and Kanoa Igarashi were battling all day, but in the Grom final, Jake rose up and took the victory!

The mysterious Morro Rock stands tall in the background as kids have fun at the Goldfish pre-party at Wavelengths Surf Shop.

BBQ, Ping Pong tournament, prizes, custom hats, autograph signing, just a few of the things that went down at the pre-party. Go Here to view more fun from the event.

Lots for fun and games on the beach, while local creedler Brother Frog shows off his tee shirt designs and the Lifeguard truck helping out the judges with fog visibility.

Eric Soderquist almost missed his early morning heat due to his 1961 Falcon Wagon almost dieing on Hwy 1. He finished off the day in a solid 4th place in the Pro Division.
