RIYL Yuck, Porches, Lemonheads, Wishy. New album ‘frog song’ due out this Friday 02/14 via K Records. Announces U.S. West Coast Tour with Toner.

fish narc (the musical moniker of Olympia, WA-based songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Ben Funkhouser) on ‘frog song’ fully embraces the guitar-forward indie rock that’s always informed his genre-hopping music. The album combines timeless songwriting with ’90s alternative grit and heart-on-sleeve lyricism to show off a whole new side of fish narc’s world. ‘old band’ follows earlier singles ‘boxy volvo’ and ‘my ceiling’ and further illustrates his knack for era-spanning songcraft and infectious hooks. The track draws together shimmering shoegaze textures, grunge-y guitars, and fish narc‘s longing vocal melodies to create a sound that feels just as at home in 2025 as it would in 1995. Funkhouser discussed the new song saying: “Sometimes I say too much, maybe in person, or in a song. You know when you’re trying to describe something that seems simple but you end up talking in circles, each step realizing you don’t even know what you mean? When I reflect on the past, how certain relationships or songs or moments made me feel, I often get turned around trying to make sense of it. I was in a band called Hausu from 2010 to 2013. Formative and raw as it was, I honestly can’t remember very well. I tried not to say too much about it.”
