DAVID HEARTBREAK TO RELEASE THE FOUNDATION EP MAY 14th ON OWSLA/THE SEVEN TRACK EP FINDS HEARTBREAK MELDING HIS DUB INFLUENCED PAST WITH FUTURE ELECTRO
Brooklyn-born DJ/producer David Heartbreak continues to blaze his singularly innovative path in the crowded EDM world with his newest release, ‘The Foundation’ EP, coming via OWSLA on May 14th. The seven track recording draws from Heartbreak’s hip hop roots while brazenly forging knee-deep into the electronic world with influences widely ranging from dubstep, trance, and future bass to kuduro and dancehall. A common thread throughout ‘The Foundation’ is an incorporation of dub beats, which quite aptly serve as David Heartbreak’s musical foundation and also, more widely, as a foundation for the hip hop that shaped David’s youth. It is with this unwillingness to be constrained by the confines of a sole genre that David Heartbreak has garnered the attention of industry big names (including Skrillex, Diplo and Bassnectar), major press outlets (from BBC Radio 1 to the Washington Post) and audiences alike. ‘The Foundation’’s lead single ‘Raindrops’ includes vocals from buzzworthy multi- instrumentalist and Shady Records signee Skylar Grey.
