Electronic deep funk discovery Universound announces the Japanese release of ‘Moonlight Drive’
On February 20, 2023, Epictronic Japan will release the album ‘Moonlight Drive’ by the Italian rock band Universound in Japan.
‘Moonlight Drive’ is the second album by Universound. An emotional journey, made of fast-paced rhythms and “space sounds”, telling a story and representing a historical period: it arises and develops throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. This album embodies the concept of both individual and collective resilience. 8 tracks that are able to transport the listener into different interconnected dimensions, where he plays the starring role: the common thread that connects these worlds. Universound is a band consisting of five young musicians from Italy. Formed in 2016, they are embracing different styles and contaminations and constantly developing their own sound, which has been shaped by different influential musical trends but is organic and effective. Improvisation skills, interplay, and synergy are the key points of their live performances. A Universound concert is a show with multiple musical facets, mainly based on a funk approach with electronic experimentation hints: this combination has given rise to the “Deep Funk” sound. The sound journey is explosive, engaging, and innovative. The group was born and grew up in Chiaravalle (Ancona, Marches, IT). In 2017 Universound won the Mangiadischi contest in Fermo, sharing the stage with the rapper Rancore. The debut album ‘Elefunk’ was recorded and released in 2018: eight original tracks marked by a funk nature. The second album ‘Moonlight Drive’ was published by Epictronic and Overdub Recordings in January 2022. ‘Moonlight Drive’ is an emotional journey, made of fast-paced rhythms and sounds from outer space, telling a story and representing a historical period: it arises and develops throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This album embodies the concept of resilience: the new 8 tracks are created in synergy, with the desire to never give up.
