Daft Punk & “Jaws” connected by Xtreme Video for the Tony Hawk Foundation
Xtreme Video connnected Daft Punk & Aaron “Jaws” Homoki for a unique charity “auction” to the benefit of the Tony Hawk Foundation.
The “Boards + Bands” fundraising initiative merges the worlds of skateboarding and music to benefit the work of the Tony Hawk Foundation. The Tony Hawk Foundation seeks to foster lasting improvements in society, with an emphasis on supporting and empowering youth. Through special events, grants, and technical assistance, the Foundation supports recreational programs with a focus on the creation of public skateboard parks in low-income communities. In order to raise money for his foundation, for the children, Tony Hawk invited a select group of professional skateboarders to donate their personally ridden skateboards and submit the name of their favorite songs.
Ben Harper, also involved in the Foundation, then sent those boards on to the appropriate artists with one simple message: “Please write the lyrics to this skater’s favorite song on his skateboard, and we’ll use it to create more skateparks for kids.” On Jaws‘ skateboard, you can now read the lyrics of Technologic, from album ‘Human After All’ of the French Duo, Daft Punk.
These special collaboration skateboards will be available in an eBay celebrity auction launching December 5, and will be on display through the end of the auction at the GRAMMY Museum in downtown Los Angeles, California. (auction runs from Thurs. 12/5 to Sun. 12/15 on eBay)
