Volcom Stone’s Butterfish Surf Series Mandalay, Oxnard

The first Butterfish Surf Series of the year went off this past weekend in beautiful Oxnard, California. When we pulled up to the beach the waves were a solid 3-4 ft and nearly 230 competitors poured over the dunes to try to get a spot in the event. Once everything was ready to roll we got the Juniors division in the water, blew the horns, and kicked the day off.

Kilian Garland came down from Santa Barbara and left with $500.00 and the win!

The day rolled along perfect and by the time the kids were done covering each other in chocolate syrup and a chugging pickle juice the Chipotle burritos arrived and it was time to grub! The mid day high tide filled in heavy and the squids got their first taste of chest high shore pound tubes and they loved every second of it. As the tide dropped the waves turned on and it was time for the finals and the end of the day. Check below for full recap of the day’s event.

Victor Done was one of the last Pro-Am entries and made it all the way to the final.

Bobby took 6th place in the final earning him some valuable points towards VQS Champs!

Liam got worked on this one and came up with a bloody face then turned around and went right back in the water!

Victor took 3rd place and tons of prizes from Future Fins, Speck, Kicker, and many more!

The Squids had to battle through 31 competitors, that’s almost 6 times as many as there were last year!
