Costa Mesa, CA. (October 2019) – There’s no doubt that longtime Vans global team rider Anthony Van Engelen’s storied career and vast impact on skateboarding’s history precedes him. This year, for holiday 2019, Vans proudly introduces an updated AVE capsule with new apparel and a unique AVE Pro colorway, building on the initial debut this fall.

For AVE, good enough doesn’t cut it; he’s barely satisfied with great. Over his 20-year professional career (14 of which he’s spent on Vans), the Southern California native co-founded influential skateboard brand Fucking Awesome, dropped countless influential video parts and earned Thrasher mag’s 2015 “Skater of the Year.”

AVE’s latest Vans pro colorway, a “rainy day” forest night and black, packs the same durability, function and comfort. The AVE Pro boasts UltimateWaffle construction – heel-to-toe Ultracush comfort and cushioning, and a midfoot shank to keep flex in the forefoot – contained in translucent Vans waffle rubber.

The head-to-toe apparel collection delivers several new pieces for the holiday season, including a fleece crewneck, as well as tees, long sleeve shirts and a hat in a monochrome palette. Rounding out the collection is the Drill Chore Coat and V96 Standard / AVE denim in vintage rinse wash.

RapidWeld no-sew technology utilizes heat-fused upper panels for an extremely strong bond that’s both hard-wearing and flexible all at once, while remaining lighter than conventional stitching. Duracap™ reinforced underlays in high abrasion areas ensure the shoe can withstand the toughest abuse.

The AVE Pro also boasts LuxLiner™ technology, integrating the tongue and internal lining for a more snug, consistent fit. A molded heel counter provides additional structure and heel lock, while a full-length Ultracush midsole acts as built-in impact cushioning.
