MATTER IS THE MINIMUM

Racial inequality in the U.S. is supported and fueled by systemic racism. We all have the responsibility to dismantle these systems of oppression. We commit to take action for the long haul because Black Lives Matter and matter is the minimum. We are currently working on our commitments and creating our full action plan, however we are not waiting until we have a perfect plan in place. We are starting our journey toward anti-racism by:

-Joining the #StopHateForProfit Campaign by pulling Vans ad dollars from Facebook and Instagram for the month of July. The money will then be reinvested into supporting Black communities through empowerment and education programs that also expand our support of racial equality and access initiatives.

#STOPHATEFORPROFIT

In response to Facebook’s repeated failure to meaningfully address the vast proliferation of hate on its platforms, #StopHateforProfit is calling for some of the world’s largest corporations to pause advertising on Facebook during the month of July 2020. We see how social media algorithms uplift misinformation, inflammatory content and hate speech. Moderation needs to be prioritized, regardless of the monetary impact.

WHAT ELSE?

Vans have also diverted the cost of their store window displays for the month of July in the U.S. and Canada to uplift and empower the black community. To help fight racial hatred and discrimination, Vans has donated $100,000 to the NAACP and $50,000 to the GSA Network. In standing with their global music ambassador and family member, Anderson .Paak, we donated $75,000 to .Paak House in an effort to continue to support programming that combats racial and social injustice. Vans is working on its full set of commitments and actions, please continue to visit here and on social media to stay updated.
