Element MAKE IT COUNT Finals in Madrid

Make It Count 2011 International Contest Series: European Finals to be held in Madrid on May 14, 2011

Madrid, May 6, 2011 – Over the past few months, kids around Europe have been hitting the rails at home, in the hopes of winning the chance to compete at Element’s European Make It Count Finals in Madrid. The individual regional contests, all brought to you by Dakine and Element’s own non-profit Elemental Awareness, began in February in Estonia and made their way through 20 countries in three months. From Romania to Belgium, past Russia and France, all the way to Sweden and Greece, kids had an epic skate park day, whether they qualified for the Finals or not. However, those who did are now in for a treat. On Saturday, May 14 2011, 20 young skaters of 20 nationalities will receive the chance to show Element’s European and U.S. team what they’ve got. Levi Brown, Mark Appleyard, Nyjah Huston, Nick Garcia, Evan Smith, Philippe Zwijsen and Alex Amor will be the judge of which lucky contestant will not only receive a one year sponsorship from Dakine, but also travel to and take part in the Make it Count global finals at Element’s YMCA Camp in California. The European winner will spend a week at the idyllic Lake Sequoia site, skate the famous Berrics park with the team riders and receive the chance to win a sponsorship from Element Skateboards. The MIC European Finals will be held at the Tetuan Skate Plaza in Madrid on May 14th. The actual contest will begin at 15h00, but there will be a jam session and drop spot obstacles competition starting at 12h00. The winner will be announced the same evening, following the contest. As for Element’s team riders: they will be at the event to judge and skate, but will also be attending a signing session on Friday the 13th, from 18h30 to 20h00, at one of Spain’s most prominent skate stores Welcome Skate Shop at C. Alburquerque 12. Make it Count is a series of events hosted around the world to seek new talent, bring progress to skateboarding, and spread the message of social and global awareness. It’s where over 15000 attendees come together annually, through their mutual passion and shared goal of simply wanting to make it count… Visit www.elementeurope.com for local listings and more information on the event or contact Kiki McGowan at Element Europe: tel. +33 (0)5 58 700 700 or e-mail kiki@elementeurope.eu
