Her first time snowboarding in powder, fellow Burton Team Rider Maria Thompson showed her the ropes around what it takes to put it down in the backcountry. “Research & Development” invited 14 riders to film and compete in an off-resort venue for a chance to win $5,000 and a spot on the ‪@NaturalSelectionTour‬ in 2025. RND is a solution to the gender gap in professional backcountry snowboarding. The first-of-its-kind event offers a space for women to learn and ride in the backcountry while fostering a community that builds the future of the sport.
