Sun June share gorgeous new song ’41 Dollars’
…and ’16 Riders (demo)’ out now via Run For Cover Records. Fall East Coast Tour w/ Dan Wriggins start this week. Performing at Briston Maroney’s Paradise Festival.
Last month Sun June collaborated with Porches on a remix of their song ‘Easy Violence’ and they’re back again with a brand new track ’41 Dollars’ along with a demo of ’16 Riders’ from their most recent full-length, ‘Bad Dream Jaguar’. ’41 Dollars’ is the first completely new Sun June track since the release of album and it’s well worth the wait. The song unfolds into a gorgeous cut of pastoral indie rock that gently wraps its intricate guitars and layered harmonies around the listener like a warm blanket. Meanwhile ’16 Riders (demo)’ strips away the cinematic textures of the album version to reveal the song’s tender acoustic core. Vocalist Laura Colwell discussed the new song saying:
“’41 Dollars’ is about listening to men talk. The song kinda sounds like nodding your head in exaggerated agreement and smiling through it. It cycles through a familiar mix of empathy, pity, annoyance, and frustration as conversations tread the same tired topics. It’s about trying to be present but drifting off into your own world of concerns. Men are gonna talk. Bop through it. We laughed and cried a lot while making this!”
Sun June are also about to begin a run of U.S. East Coast shows. The tour dates start this week and include support from Dan Wriggins, as well as a performance at Briston Maroney’s Paradise Festival in Nashville. See full itinerary below.
