Japan’s heaviest export, KRUELTY, have returned with the announcement of their new EP, ‘Profane Usurpation’, due out November 22nd via Closed Casket Activities. The Tokyo-based three-piece combine the technical aggression of death metal with the satisfying stomp of beatdown hardcore to provide four of the most downright crushing songs you’ll hear this year. To mark the EP’s announcement band have shared its title track along with an accompanying music video. The song pivots between galloping riffs, lighting fast blast beats, and thunderous breakdowns with ease, barely living the listener a chance to catch their breadth before the next onslaught begins. Self-described “disgusting music from Tokyo, Japan” KRUELTY excel at merging different elements from across the heavy music spectrum into something that’s as compelling as it is punishing. ‘Profane Usurpation’ highlights exactly why the band have been turning heads in hardcore and metal alike. Recorded with Taylor Young (Regional Justice Center, God’s Hate, Drain, Full Of Hell), the EP follows their 2023 album, ‘Untopia’, and dials up the intensity, adding hints of crust punk and grindcore into the stew of death metal, hardcore, and more.
