Within 20 years, multi-instrumentalist and mastermind Omar Rodríguez-López released multiple solo records – on top of his works with The Mars Volta, At The Drive-In, Bosnian Rainbows, De Facto, Antemasque. Pending somewhere between Jazz, Prog, Latin, Alternative, Electronica, and Classical Music, his music covers an impressively wide range of genres. After releasing ‘The Clouds Hill Tapes Pt I-III’ in 2020 with new interpretations of earlier songs, ‘Is It The Clouds?’ due out January 19th via Clouds Hill Records is the first new material now since the series of releases in 2016/2017. Omar Rodríguez-López also releases his new single, ‘Your Own Worst Enemy’. “This was the first batch of songs I recorded in 2018 after taking a big break from recording”, Omar explains. Six years earlier, his mother passed away and he stopped recording solo music. “The record has a lot to do with the passing of my mother, but it is not as brutal as it would have been if I had done it back when she actually died. There was enough distance between me and when it happened.” ‘Is It The Clouds?’ will be made available for the first time as a part of the encompassing ‘Amor De Frances’ vinyl box set (release: December 4th, 2023). ‘Your Own Worst Enemy’ is the first single released, and will be part of the digital album release on January 19th, 2024.
