Carhartt WIP Radio: HiTech
Since dropping their self-titled debut album in 2022, HiTech have garnered a reputation for being one of the most exciting and innovative acts to have emerged from Detroit in recent years.
For this month’s Carhartt WIP Radio show, the group have created a time-bending mix spanning ghettotech, booty house, juke and footwork, featuring tracks from their self-titled debut project, as well as songs from their newest release ‘DÉTWAT’. Accompanying the mix is an article taken from WIP magazine issue 08, which includes a series of images shot by Samuel Trotter and an interview by the writer DeForrest Brown Jr.
Boroughs, loose fits, summer denim.
Shot in New York by photographer D’Andre Williams, Boroughs focuses on lightweight denim geared for summer. The selection takes inspiration from the clean lines and loose, easy silhouettes of archival brand imagery, combined with a 90s East Coast sensibility. Core pieces are reimagined in both stone-washed blue and black denim, accentuating the items’ contrasting triple-stitched details. Styles in the Alma group, meanwhile, combine lightweight denim with ripstop paneling, offering a novel take on familiar styles that nods to two foundational Carhartt WIP fabrics. These items are complemented by shades of crisp white and ash heather across a selection of jersey staples.
