Announce new album, ‘The Things I Don’t Need’, out May 19th on Static Era Records.

Poppy, passionate, powerful – Cinema Stare evoke all this and more on their debut album, ‘The Things I Don’t Need’, set for release May 19th on Static Era Records. The Connecticut band make pop-punk sprinkled with hints of indie rock, and a whole lot of emotion. They share ‘Bad’ which finds the band’s vibrant sound intersected with more sullen moments. The video for the song plays on the classic trope of what’s on the other side of the door, before the band comes together for a glowing performance. You can watch it here now. Speaking on the song, vocalist Quinn stated:

‘Bad’ is one of the first songs we wrote for the album. The song is sort of an inner analysis of my sexuality and the relationships I was having at the time. The lyrics culminated from feeling confused and like things were moving so incredibly fast that I couldn’t confront them quick enough. Looking back on how I felt when I wrote the lyrics, I can definitely see someone who was struggling to form their own identity.”

Meeting through the local scene in the summer of 2019, Cinema Stare fully came together in March of 2021. Writing over the course of a year, it allowed the band to meticulously figure out arrangements for the songs giving them extra depth when heading into production. ‘The Things I Don’t Need’ was produced by the band with assistance from Chris Teti (who also engineered and mixed) at Silver Bullet Studios and mastered by Adam Cichocki at Timber Studios. The songs serve as a release for past emotions and experiences, but still posses a sense of light-heartedness that comes with a pop-punk record. The band pulls influence from acts like Jimmy Eat World and The Starting Line, and also bands like Peach Pit and The Muffs. On ‘The Things I Don’t Need’, Cinema Stare have created a bouncy and heartfelt record to soundtrack your Spring. Record is available on vinyl for preorder now through Static Era Records. Cinema Stare has also announced a tour with Indiana emo band Leisure Hour, full dates below.

Cinema Stare is Quinn – Vocals, Jason Moriarty – Guitar / Vocals, Austin Hainey – Guitar, Joe Pelegano – Bass, Pasquale Liuzzi – Drums.
