Sadurday give a fierce take on alt-grunge with new single ‘Sideways’
‘Nothing 2 Celebrate’ EP out October 21st.
Today, alternative duo Sadurday have shared ‘Sideways’, the second track off their upcoming EP, ‘Nothing 2 Celebrate’ set for release on October 21st. The track oozes with a ‘90s alt-rock inspired flair, pulling influences from bands like Garbage and Sonic Youth. Nick Comanici rips infectious guitar lines as Annie Jean Linn‘s impassioned vocal delivery hits with ferocity. It follows lead single ‘Mary’ as an introduction to the band, putting forth a sound that is as powerful as it is memorable. Speaking on the lyrical content of ‘Sideways’, Linn commented:
“It’s about someone not being able to break away from something that is harmful, and what that thing is can be left to interpretation. We all have our vices, and some people’s are unfortunately more dangerous and consuming than others.”
On ‘Nothing 2 Celebrate’, Sadurday create a blend of alternative, grunge, and pop elements that serve as a cathartic outlet. The songs have an unhinged cool to them, riddled with emotional storytelling and tuned-in guitars. The EP was recorded in three days at The Animal Farm studios with Jon Markson (Drug Church, Soul Blind) at the helm as engineer and producer, and Adam Cichocki (Gatherers) tracked drums at Timber Studios.
